Lantern Festival in Baotu Spring Park

The lantern festival lasts from the first to the twentieth day of the first lunar month in the Park. The festival dates back to the Tang Emperor Xuanzong (685-762) when people in Jinan started to exhibit lanterns beside the springs on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month every year. By now, the Park has successfully held 38 lantern festivals since 1965 and become one of the major lantern festival sites in northern China. The prominent subject and unique feature of each festival and the combination of lantern arts and folk culture make the festival a cultural brand of Jinan City and a winter resort for tourists.
